On the 31st of May at 4.30pm, all over the country (potential) Jong TNO members will join in harmonious drinks. How, you ask? By video conferencing! With help of the location ambassadors, we are setting up drinks at 14 locations, giving members the opportunity to get to know each other, while glimpsing at colleagues at the other side of the country. And with all of you 'together' like that, we'll present a little surprise... Below is a list of participating locations, with the local Jong TNOers organizing it. They will soon invite you. Workshop series about Terms of Employment Part 1: Smart pensions: what are your options? Tuesday May 29th - 19:00
Location: Cafe Schlemmer, The Hague
Free of charge for JongTNO members What about your pension? Do we really have no choice in how we save for our future retirement? What are expected trends? How would you shape it if you could change the system? In this first workshop of the series on TNO terms of employment we’ve invited a special guest: Martin Pikaart, ex-TNO and well known pension expert focused on the interests of young employees. He is the author of the book ‘De Pensioen Mythe’, cited last Saturday in NRC Handelsblad (see attachment). Furthermore, Coby van den Berg, TNO HR ‘Arbeidszaken’, will be the chairwoman of the workshop series. She will introduce the workshop series and Hans Veltman will provide us the detailed information about how the pension system works specifically for TNO. Curious what Jong TNO has lined up for you this year? Check out our annual plan! As a teaser, we’ll provide a few highlights here. Generate & ActivateWe will grow! New members from existing and new target groups will join the club and participate in activities. At the same time, we will see an increase of active members, organizing both local and nationwide activities. Investigate & FacilitateWe will the source the crowd out of you! We want to know what makes you tick, so we can provide the activities that best match your desires. Speaking of activities, we might be organizing a pretty large one, involving young TNOers from all over the country, external parties and press. We’re still in a brainstorming stage: Wanna help out? Automate & CommunicateExpect a large PR-campaign of us this year. We’ll start with the launch of a new website, (signing up for Jong TNO and our activities has never been easier), introduce a new logo and house style and basically get at you through media you never thought possible. In de “Politieke agenda voor meertaligheid” van de Europese Commissie staat dat de “taal cruciaal is voor de bevordering van intercultureel bewustzijn en begrip”. Het is ook duidelijk dat met de uitbreiding van de Europese Unie de interne markt is gegroeid, de migratie is toegenomen en dus de interculturele communicatie belangrijker is geworden. Terwijl meertaligheid voorheen een kwestie was van communicatie voor bijvoorbeeld bedrijfszaken, het is nu een kwestie van samenwerken en samenleven in een omgeving gedefinieerd door dezelfde parameters. Zoals voorspelbaar is, is meertaligheid een uitdaging. De oplossing van de Europese Unie was om Engels als lingua franca voor het bedrijfsleven te definiëren.Hoe zit het in TNO? Het aantal buitenlanders neemt toe. Dat vraagt strategieën om de communicatie grenzen te doen verdwijnen. Als Jong TNO Board hebben we op onze agenda voor 2011 het betrekken van onze internationale collega’s bij de activiteiten die we gaan organiseren gezet. Binnen deze context lijkt de beslissing van het bestuur van Jong TNO om belangrijke berichten in het Engels te communiceren voor ons vanzelfsprekend. We zien geen nadelen of belediging voor jullie onze Nederlandse Jong TNO collega’s, maar is dat echt zo? Wij geloven dat het de interactie tussen Jong TNOers van verschillende nationaliteiten zal bevorderen, en hopen dat het een dynamische interculturele samenleving en werkomgeving zal creëren. Deze argumenten zijn niet nieuw, maar ze hebben vaak tegen reacties naar boven gebracht. Het blijkt bijvoorbeeld dat er bepaalde regels binnen TNO gelden die dit erg moeilijk maken. Zo is het bijvoorbeeld niet toegestaan artikelen te publiceren in LIFE in een andere taal dan Nederlands. Maar is LIFE dan slechts voor de Nederlandse collega’s bestemd? Of moeten buitenlanders maar gewoon heel snel de taal leren? En in hoeverre zijn we bereid om onze internationale collega’s een helpende hand aan te bieden?Natuurlijk willen we dit graag met jullie bediscussiëren. We zijn discussies gestart in de Jong TNO groep bij Yammer en LinkedIN. We horen graag wat jullie mening is over dit onderwerp, wordt het Nederlands of Engels?
